Under Fire? - ASSURED SAFETY & HEALTH LAUNCHES NEW TRAINING PROGRAMME
Surrey-based Safety Consultants ‘Assured Safety & Health’ are launching their new training programme aimed at small and medium businesses this month. At the launch of the campaign the head of the consultancy, Martin Larmour, said. “We are starting this programme with 'Under Fire', a 1-day course on Fire Risk Management, as we appreciate that the CEOs of many smaller companies feel they are often under fire from the demands imposed on them by new safety regulations. This course is designed to provide busy safety/facility managers with the information that they will need to implement the changes in Fire Safety requirements brought in at the end of last year. It is essential that they understand the legal and financial risks, involved”, he added.
According to Larmour, businesses must recognise the shift in responsibilities, in particular that Owners, Employers and Occupiers could now be the 'Responsible Person' under the new Fire Safety Order. Fire Certificates are now obsolete and the 'Responsible Person' must ensure a fire risk assessment has been undertaken and adequate systems of control have been put in place.
Courses will be held in central London with ‘Under Fire- a one day Fire Risk Management course and will be continued with Environmental Management and the revised Construction Regulations later in the year. More details can be found at: www.assured-safety.co.uk
N.B. : The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 became law in October 2006. It places responsibilities on building owners, occupiers and employers. Fire certificates have now become obsolete and those with responsibilties will be required to manage their fire safety risk including undertaking a fire risk assessment.
